OUR STORY

MAKAYLA & DAVID

We're Dave and Makayla Harris - photographers + cinematographers, upstate New York residents, proud parents of two, frequent world travelers, and believers in the importance of both making memories and preserving them forever.

CHAPTER one >

OUR STORY

MAKAYLA & DAVID

She was posing for a group shot with her friends when he jumped in the frame. She immediately noticed his huge smile and charming eyes. He fell in love with her laugh. A photobomb, our first candid, the night we met.

CHAPTER TWO >

1

OUR STORY

MAKAYLA & DAVID

Our quick romance, celebrated by a mountain-top wedding, led to welcoming the first of two adorable littles. It was at that moment we realized our true passion, documenting life organically and creatively.

OUR STORY

MAKAYLA & DAVID

We jumped off the ship of stability into a sea of freedom and creativity and while the waves were far from steady, it was always worth the ride.  In our eyes, each romance is an adventure, a story waiting to be told.

3

Founded in Boston, our family of four quickly grew out of the small-space, fast-pace lifestyle and headed for the hills where we settled at the base of the Adirondack mountains in Saratoga Springs, NY.

With David's background in finance, Makayla’s in marketing and our joined enthusiasm for documenting everyday life creatively and authentically, building a business that centered around love and emotion came naturally to us.

Home

When we aren’t shooting weddings or coaching other creative business owners, we love exploring the outdoors, eating at every restaurant in our little town, and traveling the world with our whole Harris family (complete with all the cousins).
Our story consists of many moments of pivotal loss in addition to momentous joy, and for that, we’ve grown a sound appreciation for togetherness and the memories we can hold in our hands, close to our heart.

My wife, two kids, and family are my everything.

Sleeping. Nothing can wake me up - ask my wife!

Working out. Could be worse vices, I suppose!
Oh, and new gear and technology.

I tend to take jokes too far. I get it from my Dad.

That I follow my kids (and wife!) around picking up messes because I’m OCD about organization.

Adventures, and the road less traveled.

I can eat an entire box of oreos in one sitting just to keep the rows even (ok, maybe full blown OCD)

I’m relaxed and easy going about life in general but passionate about my values and what I believe in.

When I was 10, I told my parents I was going to be a movie director in Key West. #theresstilltime

Is to make my children proud. And my biggest fear is failure.

Drink: Botanist gin + tonic, with rosemary grapefruit. Snack: Sourdough pretzels.

Tradition is sacred.

The record-breaking speed with which I swap my real clothes for sweatpants the moment I walk through the door.

Seeing the bride dressed in her gown, when it sets in that all of her dreams are really coming true.

You will never influence the world by trying to be like it.

01

Have courage and be kind.

02

When it rains look for rainbows. When it’s dark look for stars.

03

You are only confined by the walls you build yourself.

04

Be your own kind of beautiful.

05

Let your faith be bigger than your fear.

06

Family gives you life.
