Hilary and Aidan braved an absolutely frigid day – with Hilary in a dress and heels, no less – to capture their winter engagement session, at Congress Park in downtown Saratoga Springs. Before stepping out into the crowds (Chowder Fest had the Saratoga streets full of hungry patrons) and the blustering, winter wind, we had the chance to chat with the pair, and their lovely parents.
This was their first time having photos professionally taken, but they were absolute naturals in front of the camera. We could not stop praising Aidan’s GQ-esque “rustic look,” or Hilary’s natural, gorgeous smile.
We’ve been anxiously waiting for a chance to shoot in our brand new studio, and we thought this might be a great opportunity to get some classic shots of the two of them. But, we couldn’t leave out their parents…
While Hilary and Aidan prepared themselves to venture out into the cold, we snapped some heartwarming shots of the couple, who have been married for 35 years! When we asked them if they had any advice for the engaged couple, they smiled at each other and said, “Stay friends.”
We don’t think this will be an issue for this duo. Even in 20 degree weather, they were smiling and laughing together.
Their story actually begins with a walk in the park! Hilary and Aidan met at a coffee shop around the corner from Hilary’s house in Park Slope, Brooklyn. She was in workout attire and Aidan, an early riser, insisted that they meet at 8am!
To this day, Aidan still teases Hilary for the workout clothes being an “act/show” because coffee turned into breakfast and that walk in Prospect Park. Not once did Hilary mention her missed workout class! Hilary still sticks to her claim that she was going to a pilates class.
When asked what advice they would give to another couple, Hilary and Aidan said to, “be true to yourself and your personal style.”
We can’t wait to capture their wedding this coming November!
