Karah and Shelbi are a couple that absolutely radiate love and warmth – which was the perfect combination for this frigid, winter engagement session! We were beyond excited to shoot in a location that means so much to their story, since the two share the same hometown of Poestenkill, New York.
Both Karah and Shelbi attended Poestenkill Elementary School and graduated from Averill Park High School, one year apart. But, their story began two years after high school when Shelbi reached out to Karah (in his protective nature) while she was going through a difficult time. He would text her, and send photos of his adorable 4 month old niece, Teigan. Karah was excited to share that she also had a 4 month old niece named Lia.
It wasn’t until a few months later on Karah’s 20th birthday, that she would agree to let her guard down, and give Shelbi a shot. He took her to a nice dinner, and a 10 o’clock movie – and if you know Karah, that is just crazy talk! She drank 3 cups of coffee while getting ready, put in a solid effort, and still fell asleep.
Over the next 5 months Shelbi and Karah enjoyed all that summer in New York had to offer. In September, the pair moved into their first apartment together. Three cats later, several pranks, and four years of memories and adventure in between, Shelbi got down on one knee and asked Karah to spend the rest of her life with him. Leaving Karah speechless – for the first time EVER.
This is just the beginning for Shelbi and Karah. There is so much adventure still in store. In the words of Shelbi, “Sharing my life with her, there will never be a dull moment.”
