Snowy Saratoga Springs Engagement | Logan & James

March 22, 2018

It’s not often that you can say you got “Pinterest perfect” snowflakes on the day of a session, but that’s exactly what we got for Logan and James’ engagement shoot at Saratoga State Park. Logan and James are such an adorable, fun couple. We loved that they brought their dog Bode along to give the session a family feel. He bounced around and kept us all laughing!

Logan describes James as “loyal, supportive, and loving,” while James says that Logan is, “sweet, loving, and bubbly.” These two balance each other out perfectly. Even though they had never had professional photos taken, their candid approach to the session made it look like they’d done this a million times!

Because these two love being outdoors together, the state park seemed like a great place to blend their adventerous spirits with their laid back, casual style. For the more formal photos, Logan brought her grandmother Rosemary’s mink stole as a way to incorporate something meaningful into their shoot.

Logan and James’ story starts at Emmanuel College in Boston, where they both attended undergraduate school. They had mutual friends and started to spend more time together their Junior year. It was during senior year that their friendship turned into something more.

Because James studied Biology, and Logan studied Chemistry, they had a few classes together. The pair used that as an excuse to spend time studying in the library, or getting coffee to go over class work. Those study dates turned into their first official date – James surprised Logan by bringing her to the Boston Public Library.

What started off as time spent together in Emmanuel’s library has turned into 2 apartments, a yellow lab, and a future of adventure together.

Logan’s advice to other couples: “There is so much that goes into planning for a wedding, it is important to take a step back and remember why you are going through all this in the first place – your love for each other. Our engagement session did that just that…”

We wrapped this quick [but amazing!] shoot up in just over 45 minutes – our fastest to date! It left James enough time to head out for a drink (or two) before the big game on Super Bowl Sunday.

Would you brave the cold to shoot a session in the snow?
